SimpleTalk AI Shutdown: How to Get Your Account Back (and the Best Alternatives)
Last updated: October 9, 2026 · By Jon Jong, Velocitas Consulting
The short answer
SimpleTalk AI is not coming back. Simpletalk, LLC filed a voluntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition on October 5, 2026, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida (case 26-23313). Chapter 7 is liquidation, not restructuring.
If you logged in at app.simpletalk.ai, your CRM, contacts, phone numbers, and AI agent live inside a HighLevel (GoHighLevel) sub-account that SimpleTalk's agency account controls. You cannot release it yourself. Only SimpleTalk's agency account (now likely under the bankruptcy trustee) or HighLevel support can.
Do these four things today:
- Point your business phone to a line a human answers.
- Test whether you can still log in, and export everything if you can.
- Open a HighLevel support ticket with proof you own the business.
- Send a written eject request to SimpleTalk and the bankruptcy trustee.
What happened
- Around September 25, 2026: customers report that service stopped and SimpleTalk stopped responding. Posts in the GoHighLevel community on Reddit describe failed texts and broken workflows.
- October 5, 2026: Simpletalk, LLC filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy (case 26-23313-RAM, S.D. Fla.). The docket lists it as a "no asset" case.
- October 6, 2026: the HighLevel newsletter The Daily Level warned users whose voice agents ran on SimpleTalk.
Why you are locked out
SimpleTalk did not build its own CRM. It resold HighLevel under its own brand. HighLevel has two levels: an agency account that pays the bill, and sub-accounts for each client. You were a sub-account inside SimpleTalk's agency.
- Only the agency owner or an authorized agency admin can move a sub-account. See HighLevel's Sub-Account Transfer Guide.
- A sub-account user has no button to start that process.
- HighLevel's billing FAQ for agencies sends people who bought through an agency back to that agency.
HighLevel support can still step in on a case-by-case basis. That is why your ticket and paperwork matter.
The deadlines that matter
HighLevel keeps cancelled account data for 90 days, then deletes the agency account, its sub-accounts, and the data for good. Inside those 90 days, whoever controls the agency account can reactivate it, and the data comes back.
Nobody outside SimpleTalk knows when (or if) its subscription was cancelled. Treat your phone numbers as at risk right now, and assume the data clock is already running.
What to do today, in order
- Get a human answering your phone. If your business line forwards to a SimpleTalk number, turn forwarding off with your carrier now. Every call that hits a dead AI agent is a customer calling your competitor.
- Test your login. Try app.gohighlevel.com with the email you used for SimpleTalk. A white-label login can fail while the account underneath still works.
- If you get in, export everything. Export contacts to CSV. Screenshot every workflow, pipeline, calendar setting, and AI agent prompt. Write down every phone number. Download files and media.
- Gather proof the business is yours. SimpleTalk invoices, contract, card statements, login email, sub-account name, phone numbers, and a business license or EIN letter.
- Open a HighLevel support ticket at help.gohighlevel.com. Attach your proof and use the template below. Follow up in the same ticket every two business days.
- Send a written eject request. Ask SimpleTalk's agency owner (or the trustee, see step 7) to use "Eject to a New Agency" and nominate you as owner. You get an email invite to your own HighLevel account with your sub-account attached. Steps are in HighLevel's eject guide.
- Contact the bankruptcy trustee. In Chapter 7, a court-appointed trustee takes control of the company's assets. The trustee's name is on the case docket. Send them the same eject request. Because it is listed as a no-asset case, you may not be asked to file a claim for prepaid fees unless the court later sends a notice. Talk to an attorney about your specific situation.
- Call your card issuer. If you paid for service you did not receive, ask about a dispute. Card networks set time limits, so do not wait.
- Be careful who you trust. Do not share logins or pay anyone who says they can "unlock" your sub-account. Only the agency account holder or HighLevel can.

Subject: Urgent: sub-account locked under bankrupt agency (SimpleTalk AI)
I own [Business Name]. My HighLevel sub-account was provided by the agency SimpleTalk AI (white-label login: app.simpletalk.ai). Simpletalk, LLC filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy on October 5, 2026 (S.D. Fla. case 26-23313) and does not respond.
Sub-account name: [name] · Login email: [email] · Phone numbers: [numbers] · Last successful login: [date]
I am requesting: 1. An eject or transfer of this sub-account to an agency account I own. I will open my own HighLevel plan today if required. 2. If that is not possible, an export of my contacts and conversations. 3. Confirmation of the agency's status and the dates my phone numbers and data are scheduled for deletion. 4. A hold on, or release of, the phone numbers listed above.

What comes with you and what you rebuild
If an eject goes through, most of the account arrives intact (contacts, conversations, workflows, calendars), but plan on a few hours reconnecting integrations. Phone numbers depend on the phone system: if both sides use HighLevel's LC Phone, numbers move and keep their A2P registration. If Twilio is involved, numbers don't move automatically. Details are in the eject guide.
SimpleTalk AI alternatives
Don't wait on a ticket to get your phones covered. Start a replacement in parallel and treat a recovered account as a bonus. Your options fall into three groups:
| Option | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Your own HighLevel account + HighLevel Voice AI | Owners with time to learn and build workflows themselves | You do the setup, prompts, testing, and A2P registration, often while calls are being missed |
| Standalone AI receptionist apps | Simple call answering and message taking | Often no CRM, booking, or follow-up; another login to manage |
| Done-for-you AI agency (like Velocitas) | Owners who want phones covered fast, without learning the software | Pick a team with a clear plan for your data and a real person you can call |
Before you sign with anyone, ask:
- "If you close tomorrow, what happens to my data and phone numbers?" Get a clear answer in writing.
- Who owns the phone numbers and the A2P registration?
- Can I export my contacts and conversations any time?
- What happens to my calls if your AI goes down?
- What is the full monthly cost, including minutes and texts?
What a rebuild involves (whether you do it or a team does it for you):
- Set up a new HighLevel account.
- Import contacts from your CSV, invoicing software, email, and call log.
- Buy a local number and start A2P registration the same day.
- Write down what the old agent did (greeting, questions, bookings, transfers). That becomes the new prompt.
- Test with real calls, then forward your business line to it.
FAQ
Is SimpleTalk AI really bankrupt? Yes. Simpletalk, LLC filed a voluntary Chapter 7 petition on October 5, 2026, in the Southern District of Florida, case 26-23313.
Can I move my sub-account without SimpleTalk's approval? Not by yourself. Only the agency owner (or whoever now controls the agency account) can start a transfer. Your other route is HighLevel support.
Will HighLevel release my account? Maybe. HighLevel publishes no guarantee for this situation. A documented ticket with proof of ownership is your best shot.
How long do I have? HighLevel deletes data 90 days after an agency subscription is cancelled. The start date is unknown, so act now.
Can I keep my business phone number? If the number was yours before SimpleTalk and only forwarded to them, yes. Turn off forwarding. If it was bought or ported inside the sub-account, raise it in your ticket today.
What does my own HighLevel account cost? Check HighLevel's pricing page for current plans.
What is the best SimpleTalk AI alternative? The one that gets your phones answered again fastest, with a team you can actually reach. For most service businesses, that means a done-for-you setup on HighLevel: your contacts, workflows, and AI agent rebuilt and tested for you, with a clear exit plan for your data.
